Micropest Pest Control Sydney is proud to have served the The Ponds community for over 21 years, delivering top-quality termite control and treatments. Established in February 2003, our track record is backed by over 1,200 five-star Google reviews. Based in Wahroonga—an Upper North Shore suburb just a twenty six-minute drive from The Ponds—we specialise in providing comprehensive termite control services for both residential and commercial properties.

WE ARE ONE OF THE LONGEST ESTABLISHED TERMITE CONTROL COMPANIES ON THE UPPER NORTH SHORE OF SYDNEY.

Gerard Dallow leads our termite control services in The Ponds. With over 35 years of hands-on experience since the late 1980s, he has personally completed more than 7,000 termite treatments. His impressive record, backed by hundreds of glowing Google reviews, has earned him a reputation as one of the most trusted experts in the field.

Termite Control The Ponds

There are five main methods to control termites, baiting, physical barriers, dusting, spraying and foaming. Important to note, The Ponds is home to three distinct destructive termite species. The most common and destructive are Coptotermes Acinaciformis Termites , followed by Schedorhinotermes Intermedius Termites , and lastly Nasutitermes Termites causing the least damage.

Choosing the right termite treatment depends on several factors—like how severe the infestation is, which termites species are involved, where they're located, the building's structure, and the local environment. Because every termite problem is unique, the best treatment is one that's customised to suit your needs and budget.

With so many termite treatment brands, formulas, and methods on the market, it can be overwhelming for someone without experience to pick the best option. Our advice is simple: steer clear of cheap, generic treatments, as they usually don't work as well as premium, reputable products. Over the years, Gerard has trialled many termite treatments, discarding those that prove ineffective or unsafe, and he always chooses the safest and most effective solutions.

Termite Control The Ponds

Termite Inspection The Ponds

Effective termite control always starts with a thorough termite inspection. This essential first step lets us provide an accurate quote and build a treatment plan that's custom-made for your needs. With over 14,000 inspections under his belt, Gerard's extensive experience means he uses the latest termite detection technology to quickly sort out your termite issues.

Termite Inspection The Ponds

Our termite inspections provide a complete assessment of your property, allowing us to spot active termites, check for any damage, and flag conditions that might encourage termite activity. We carefully inspect key areas—including the roof void, subfloor, and both the inside and outside of your property—using advanced tools such as thermal imaging, moisture meters, Termatrac devices, dongers, high-powered torches, and sometimes even termite-sniffing dogs. Once the inspection is finished, you'll receive a detailed eight-page report outlining our findings. This thorough approach gives us all the info we need to develop effective termite treatment plans and address any potential risks of future infestations.

If active termites are found, we usually kick things off with a stage one treatment – this might involve baiting, foaming, or dusting. Once that first phase is done, we move on to a stage two treatment. This can include applying a residual termiticide, extra baiting, or even a combined baiting and monitoring system – all supported by regular termite inspections.

Not every termite treatment suits every property. For example, homes built on rocky terrain or in areas with drainage issues—like many on the Northern Beaches and North Shore—might not do well with treatments such as Termidor HE or Premise that rely on residual barriers. In these conditions, water can weaken the barrier, and it often won't stick well to sandstone or rock.

In these cases, if active termites are found, the best approach is usually to use above-ground baiting systems or dusting treatments with products like Fipronil and Sentricon. However, if no termites are detected, it's smart to book regular termite inspections for early detection. Choosing the right method is key for effective termite management, and understanding your property's unique needs will help ensure the best outcomes.

Termidor He The Ponds

Termidor HE is a non-repellent, durable residual soil termite treatment that offers protection for about eight years. It uses fipronil at a concentration of 96 grams per litre and is manufactured by BASF. Widely recognised as one of the top residual termite control treatments available, Termidor HE truly ticks all the boxes.

Termidor He Termite Control Treatment The Ponds

Why Choose Termidor He Termite Control?

1) Superior Effectiveness: Termidor HE outperforms older treatments by spreading further through the soil, ensuring a consistent and reliable protective barrier around your home.

2) Colony Control: Thanks to its unique "Transfer Effect," termites that come into contact with Termidor HE can unknowingly pass it on to other members of their colony, which may eventually result in the complete elimination of the infestation.

3) Hassle-Free: Say goodbye to needless drilling and trenching. Termidor HE's advanced technology minimizes the number of drill holes and the extent of trenching around your property, helping to preserve your home's integrity.

4) Faster Installation: Termidor HE speeds up the application process, reducing downtime so you can enjoy your termite-free home sooner.

5) Long-Lasting Protection: Termidor HE bonds strongly with soil and organic matter, offering protection for about eight years—as long as the treated soil remains dry and undisturbed.

6) Safe for Your Family and Pets: The active ingredient, fipronil, is carefully formulated to be safe for both people and pets when used as directed, giving you complete peace of mind.

7) Environmentally Friendly: Termidor HE uses significantly less water than traditional treatments, making it an eco-friendly option for pest control.

Premise 200 SC The Ponds

Premise 200 SC Termiticide is a tried and trusted termite liquid treatment known for its steady performance. Launched in 1995 as the first non-repellant termite treatment designed to protect your home, it contains 200 g/L of imidacloprid as its active ingredient. This formula creates a residual barrier in the soil that not only helps eliminate termites but also shields your property for about five years. Over the past 30 years, Gerard has carried out thousands of termite treatments using Premise, and it has proven time and again to be both effective and cost-efficient.

Why Choose Premise Termite Control?

A Premise termite treatment usually stays effective for about five years. Its performance depends on factors like soil type and moisture levels, making it a versatile option for various conditions. The treatment creates a zone in the soil that termites can't detect. As they move through this area, they unknowingly come into contact with the non-repellant formula, which eventually leads to their elimination. Additionally, termites share the active ingredient with other colony members through social interactions and even cannibalism, sometimes resulting in the complete eradication of the nest.

Premise relies on imidacloprid, a modern compound known for its strong effectiveness against termites. When applied correctly, it offers robust protection without staining surfaces or releasing strong odors, ensuring it remains safe for your home and family.

Fipronil Dust The Ponds

Fipronil dust is a highly effective solution for termite control. This fine, talc-like powder is applied in tiny amounts directly into active termite galleries. When conditions are ideal, it proves to be one of the fastest, most cost-effective, and efficient ways to eliminate termites.

Termidor He Termite Control Treatment The Ponds

Fipronil's unique properties work slowly but effectively. The fine dust clings to termites as they move about the colony, and when they groom one another, they ingest the fipronil, which eventually causes their death. This gradual process stops termites from working out where the toxin is coming from, so they don't block off treated areas, helping to reduce fatalities across the colony. Typically, you can expect to see results within 7 to 14 days, making this treatment highly effective.

However, for comprehensive, long-term termite protection, it's essential to combine this method with a termite baiting and monitoring system, along with residual termite treatments. We also strongly recommend annual inspections to ensure your termite control stays effective over time.

Fipronil dust is a highly effective first-stage treatment that quickly removes active termites. Often, during renovations, clients let us know they've spotted active termites, and with expensive builders on site, halting work for six months while waiting for an above-ground baiting system just isn't an option. Instead, we apply fipronil dust directly into the active termite galleries and follow it up with a residual termite control treatment, allowing builders to keep their projects moving with minimal disruption.

If I detect a Nasutitermes termite nest—whether it's a Nasutitermes Walkeri nest in a tree, a Nasutitermes Exitiosus mound on the ground, or signs of either species inside a building—the fastest and most effective method to eliminate it is to apply fipronil dust directly into the active termite leads.

Termidor He Termite Control Treatment The Ponds

If I come across a termite nest or a large colony of around 30,000 termites belonging to the Coptotermes Acinaciformis or Schedorhinotermes Intermedius species—which are among the most aggressive and destructive in Sydney—the chances of eradicating the colony are high. However, it's essential to follow this up with a residual termite treatment to ensure complete elimination.

Sentricon Above Ground Termite Baiting The Ponds

The Sentricon Termite Baiting System is a proven solution for eliminating termite colonies in both indoor and outdoor environments. The bait consists of a cellulose-based food source infused with Hexaflumuron, a powerful chitin synthesis inhibitor. This active ingredient disrupts the termites' ability to produce chitin, a crucial component of their exoskeleton, preventing them from molting properly. As a result, affected termites become susceptible to fungal infections, triggering a chain reaction that ultimately leads to the collapse of the entire colony, including the queen.

Sentricon Above Ground Termite Baiting The Ponds

Introduced in Australia by Dow AgroSciences Australia Ltd in 1997, Sentricon was the first termite monitoring and baiting system available in the country. It remains one of the most widely used and trusted solutions, recognized for its reliability and effectiveness. Sentricon bait is applied directly to active termite sites, ensuring immediate consumption. Once in place, Micropest professionals conduct inspections every 30 days, replenishing the bait as needed. Under optimal conditions during spring and summer, it typically takes three to six months to eradicate an average termite colony. However, in colder winter months, when termite molting slows, the process may take slightly longer.

In cases where an inspection reveals only a small number of termites—too few to eliminate the colony using methods like Fipronil dust—we recommend starting with Sentricon baiting as the first stage of treatment. This is usually followed by a second stage, which involves applying a residual termiticide and installing a long-term monitoring system, such as Trelona or Sentricon Always Active. This multi-step approach not only removes the current termite nest but also significantly reduces the risk of future infestations, providing lasting protection for your property.

The Sentricon Termite Baiting System is a time-tested and reliable solution for termite control. Its innovative and systematic approach effectively manages termite infestations, giving homeowners peace of mind and strong protection against potential termite damage.

Trelona Inground Termite Monitoring And Baiting System The Ponds

The Trelona Termite Monitoring and Baiting System is an advanced solution designed to safeguard structures against termite infestations. It features multiple strategically positioned monitors around a building, each loaded with bait cartridges infused with Novaluron—a powerful inhibitor of chitin synthesis. As termites feed on this bait, their molting process is disrupted, ultimately resulting in the collapse of the entire nest.

Trelona Termite Baiting And Monitoring System The Ponds

These monitors are designed to remain effective for about five years. Property owners should check them every three to six months, with a professional termite inspection recommended once a year. During these routine checks, it's common to find that two or three bait cartridges have been consumed, which is generally sufficient to eliminate a termite colony.

The Trelona system offers proactive termite protection, making it a reliable solution for properties regardless of whether they have an active infestation. Since its introduction, this advanced system has effectively reduced termite nests across Sydney's Hills District, Upper North Shore, and Lower North Shore, demonstrating its long-term effectiveness.

Sentricon Always Active Inground Termite Monitoring And Baiting System The Ponds

The Sentricon Always Active termite baiting and monitoring system is an advanced solution for termite control. It operates by placing discreet monitoring stations around the perimeter of your property, each containing a bait rod infused with Hexaflumuron. This powerful chitin synthesis inhibitor disrupts the termites' molting process, ultimately leading to the eradication of the entire colony.

Active termites In A Sentricon In Ground Termite Baiting System The Ponds

Property owners should inspect these baiting monitors every three to six months, while a professional termite inspection is recommended annually. During these routine checks, it's common to find that two or three bait rods have been consumed, indicating that enough bait has been taken to effectively eliminate a termite nest.

A key advantage of the Sentricon system is its proactive approach. It prevents termite activity before it starts while also addressing existing infestations. Since its introduction, this system has significantly reduced termite nests across Sydney's Hills District and the Upper and Lower North Shore, providing property owners with long-term protection and peace of mind.
