Fleas are epidemic during November to March in Sydney, but you get them all year around. What we do for a flea job is we get you to - preparation work - we get you to cut the lawns, make sure the lawns are short, wash all the floors inside, lift up all the dog bowls, cat bowls, toys, and we spray as much floor surface as possible inside. Carpeted areas, timber floored areas. Outside, we spray all the garden area and lawns. It's a seven to fourteen day process and what happens is the fleas will jump out when their eggs hatch. So we do a treatment. Vibration is what hatches the eggs.

When you walk across an area where you haven't been for awhile, you'll notice fleas start hatching from the vibration of you walking past and they jump on you and want to feed straight away. When the flea hatches and they land on a treated surface, the synthetic pyrethium called cislin. They get it on their legs and when they groom themselves, they ingest it and they die. It's approximately a seven to fourteen day process.

Make sure when you've got fleas that you wash your dog and you use Advantage, or some sort of flea treatment for your pet or dog, maybe Advantage or Front Line, a very common flea treatment in Australia. If you live in a built up area of Sydney and you take your dog to the doggy park, try and avoid it between November and March because those dog parks get many, many dogs, so when your dog goes to the dog park, they pick up the fleas from the dog park. If you can, avoid the dog park at that time of year: November through March.
